What is the Difference Between Lead-acid Battery Vrla and Lithium Battery?

1. The memory effect of the lead-acid battery vrla and lithium battery is different

A lithium battery has no memory effect; the battery can be charged and discharged at any time, and the battery self-discharge is low. The lead-acid battery has a memory effect and cannot be charged and discharged at any time; there is a serious self-discharge phenomenon, and the battery is easy to be scrapped after being put on hold for a while; the discharge rate is small, and it cannot be discharged with a large current for a long time.

2. The working temperature of the lead-acid battery vrla and lithium battery is different

The common working temperature of lithium battery is -20℃~60℃, but generally lower than 0℃, the performance of lithium battery will decrease, and the discharge capacity will decrease accordingly. Therefore, the working temperature of complete lithium battery performance is usually 0~40℃. . The working temperature of the lead-acid battery vrla is generally required to be between 20°C and 25°C. When the temperature is lower than 15°C, the discharge capacity decreases. For every 1°C decrease in temperature, the capacity decreases by 1%. The lifespan will be greatly shortened.

3. The working principles of the lead-acid battery vrla and lithium battery are different

Lithium-ion batteries are characterized by lightweight and easy portability. Lithium-ion batteries are a type of battery that uses lithium metal or lithium alloy as the negative electrode material and use a non-aqueous electrolyte solution. The lead-acid battery vrla can store limited electrical energy and use in a suitable place. It works by converting chemical energy into electrical energy. It uses the lead plate filled with spongy lead as the negative electrode, the lead plate filled with lead dioxide as the positive electrode, and uses 22% to 28% dilute sulfuric acid as the electrolyte. When charging, electrical energy is converted into chemical energy, and when discharging, chemical energy is converted into electrical energy.

4. The use of the lead-acid battery vrla and lithium battery is different

The advantages of the lead-acid battery vrla are that they are cheap, safe, there is no danger of burning, the discharge current is large, usually within 5c, it is easy to deal with, low-temperature resistance, and can release nearly half of the electricity at minus 30 degrees. Compared with the lead-acid battery vrla, lithium batteries are light in weight, large in capacity, and have a monomer voltage of 3.7~4.2v. This feature is very suitable for electrical appliances that require high weight and volume, such as portable electrical appliances, mobile phones, notebooks, flashlights, etc.

The disadvantage of lithium batteries is that the price is high, and both positive and negative materials use precious metals. The second is that the electrode materials use lithium compounds. Lithium is an active metal. When it encounters oxygen and improper charging and discharging, it will release a lot of heat energy, resulting in a violent oxidation reaction. Because lithium batteries are usually sealed in rigid containers, the rapid temperature rise will inevitably lead to pressure rise, and there is a danger of explosion. In order to control this insecurity, lithium batteries and combinations must have a circuit board to control the charge and discharge current and voltage. , also called the protective plate. It is also for this reason that lithium batteries cannot be discharged with large currents at will, and the discharge activity becomes poor at low temperatures.
